The Return of Halston

So Halston is set to make a comeback thanks in part to Harvey Weinstein of all people. Yeah, I know the polo-shirt-loving movie producer doesn’t exactly bring to life the Studio 54-esque images I associate with the super sexy fashion line that influence the disco scene well into the 80s. You know, images like this that dance like Liza Minelli and Bianca Jagger in my head:

But it’s true. The movie producer says he wants to “bring back” the iconic label. Let’s hope he does, and lets pray the revived Halston does a bridge line or, better yet, a discount collection at Target.

Ah, I’m hoping for caftans, jersey dresses and pantsuits galore.

I’ve seen a ton of your movies, Harvey. You owe me big.

Well, I guess it’s not the weirdest thing in the world, but had someone told me last night that I was going to wake up to this image of Kanye West and Courtney Love taking a fun friend photo at the Givenchy show, I might have doubted it. But here it is.

Check out Kanye’s scarf. He’s the unabashed dandy of hip hop, and P.Diddy better watch the fuck out. Oscar Wilde would love him. And you’ve got to hand it to Courtney Love. No matter how many times society throws her out like an old shoe, she manages to worm her way back in. She’s all best friends with Marc Jacobs now. Wow, I can’t help but be impressed.

THRIFT SCORE: Knit Picky

These sweaters are so bad they’re good. They’re right on time with the current “ultra-graphic-I-lived-through-the –80’s” obsession.

These are one-of-a-kind sheep wool Inka Sweaters made in Peru, that I scored for 2 Bucks each at the local thrift shop. Consider pairing either one of these sweaters with a pleated “carrot” leg pant or crispy dark denim along with bright oxfords or booties like these by D. Co Copenhagen .

Finding your own unique cold weather knit may be just as easy as hitting up your local thrift or vintage store.
