Two days ago my pal, Manuel Paul, gave us all “a few options for short lace up/buckle booties to wear with high-water jeans”. They’re called Winklepickers (try saying that 12 times!). Well wouldn’t you know, as Manuel Paul was typing away about his favorite picks from Swear.com and Underground Shoes, I was perusing the thrift stores and found a pair in Red for $2!!
We at Threadtrend must truly be on the same page with spotting trends, because, really, I had no idea this was on Manuel Paul’s mind when I purchased them! The fit and color are great. They’re made of 100% soft leather and they have the natural wear and tear and scuffs that age them to my liking. Best of all, they were cheaper than bus fair!! I would, of course, wear these with skinnies as I have in the photo but I stumbled upon the amazing S/S 08′ unisexish line from Juun J on Totemfashion.com and I only want to wear them with this stuff. Gosh its hard falling in love…. More on Juun J later…

Kirsten Dunst is the new face of Miu Miu and will star in the label’s spring campaign. I know lots of people hate Dunst, but I think she’s cool and cute in that awkward way I enjoy. So the girl likes to get drunk and smoke weed. Big deal, who doesn’t?
Miu Miu is no stranger to celebrity signups, and the actress follows the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Maggie Gyllenhaal, who have both been the face of the label. I think Dunst is a pretty good choice for the playful baby of the Prada family.
The shoot already took place in LA last week. I’m anxious to see the results.
In other Miuccia news, two new Miu Miu stores will open here next year–one in LA and the other in Manhattan. Not that that has any bearing on my life.

Well, we learn two things from this preview of the Cavalli-designed Spice Girl’s tour wardrobe. Number one, Cavalli has absolutely no idea what any of them look like, except maybe Posh’s propped up boobs–what’s with the legs for miles? Earth to Roberto. And number two, Cavalli with his no-holds-barred fashion tactics and the Spice Girls with their tendency to overdo everything in every way are a perfect match.
The partnership was Posh’s idea, according to Cavalli. Of course. I’m sure that was a condition of the whole reunion. I can just see her snotty mouth saying “I get to pick the wardrobe. Ginger will have no say.”
For his part, the Italian designer says he jumped at the chance:
When I met them, I immediately understood the reason why the world went crazy for their unique brand of girl power as they are an irresistible mix of energy, pure joy, humor and a spicy dash of glamour. I’m sure their strength will take us by storm again.
Wait, did Cavalli really say “girl power?” Sounds fishy.
Nonetheless, these costumes look hot. And I am so glad they got Sporty out of those ridiculous track suits.
