Forever 21 Art Deco necklaces take cues from The Great Gatsby

forever-21-art-deco.jpg

On a recent trip to Forever 21, I was actually a little proud of the trendy mass producing retail chain. It seems they’ve taken cues from top designers and created more than a few Art Deco-inspired pieces just in time to feed the up and coming “Art School” trend. Each mixed media piece is unique in it’s own way including wood, rhinestones, metal, and pops of primary color. They remind me of my favorite Marc Jacobs collection to date, Fall 07′, except at these prices you can collect all 20! All are well under $10 bucks!

1. Metal and wood pendent $5.80

2. Metal and rhinestone medallion $6.80

3. Lacquered metal colorblocked pendant $8.80

4. Lucite, metal, and wood pendant $6.80

5. Mirrored metal necklace $8.80

5. Lacquered metal medallion $5.80

Remember that song by Biz Markie called “Spring Again”? Well, that’s what plays in my head when I look at this exciting Spring 08 line from H&M. A round-collar denim trench? What god did I please?!

Actually, there are lots of great coats in the line, just look at these:

Gimme, gimme!

For this collection, H&M is also going in the ethnic direction, which isn’t too surprising since that was the vibe on the S/S 08 runways of Marni, Diane Von Furstenburg and Duro Olowu (as reported by Camille back in October).

Target gets Rogan

rogan.jpgrogan2.jpg

Well, my negative feelings about Target’s collaborations with big name designers have been well documented, but like a dog that’s been knocked around one too many times, I still have hope. The latest news is that everyone’s favorite discount chain has nabbed Rogan Gregory, and I hope for Manuel Paul’s sake that there’s a guys line in the works, too. No word on when the collection will hit stores.

Gregory is also behind the Edun line, which is eco-friendly and not so bad despite Bono’s involvement.
