Tonight’s episode of Project Runway finally got my adrenaline running. It was the prom episode, and it was good. The best part about it was the crazy Catholic school girl (above), who terrorized Christian with her precociousness.

She was out of control, but he should be thankful because much like Hillary Clinton tearing up the other day, it was really good for America to see Christian in distress.

And as with Clinton, it made him seem more human and likable. And that’s no easy feat:

As for the winners and losers, Victorya won and out went Kevin, who deserved it for dressing that poor 16 year old like a tired hooker with a sloppy hem.

Sophisticated Zipper Jewelry? Kate Cusack shows us how.

kate-cusack-11.jpg

I’ve become instantly obsessed with this line of zipper jewelry from jeweler, costume designer, and artist Kate Cusack. Creating necklaces out of zippers could have been executed so horribly but the intricacy and sophistication of these pieces doesn’t make me feel like a wanna-be punk at all.

The Brooklyn designer began making zipper pins in 2003 and ventured into necklaces in 2006. She chose to use simple zippers because, as an artist, she believed she could use any medium to create just about anything. She stresses that no two pieces are alike and each are hand sewn using a variety of zippers.

The range of design is diverse. One piece in particular reminds me of a strand of tribal beads while others can be worn with evening wear or on fun nights out paired with dresses. No matter what the occasion, I could wear a Kate Cusack piece every day of the year and I hope to use one of her creations in a photoshoot in the near future!

For more information you can contact the artist directly from her website or visit any one of these locations: Julie: Artisans’ Gallery in New York, M.O.C.A museum in Chicago, and the Snyderman-Works Gallery in Philadelphia.

M.I.A. for Marc Jacobs Spring 08 Ad Campaign. A Call to Arms: The Facial Hair Revolution Begins and I Love It.

We already reported on M.I.A. posing for Marc by Marc Jacobs’ Spring 08 ads, but this latest one is worth mentioning because it’s revolutionary. REVOLUTIONARY, I say, because there is actual facial hair present in this photo. Facial hair! And I love, love, love it.

I am of the fuzzy faze persuasion myself, but unlike M.I.A., I’ve succumb to societal pressures with a hideous mixture of constant waxing, plucking and god knows what else since I was 13. And as years have passed and popular culture has become more and more disgusted with natural hair growth, I’ve been more vigilant.

That said, I’ve often dreamed of a day when a little fuzz would be acceptable, hating myself for not being more daring more accepting of my own ethnically induced furriness. I’ve gazed at Frida Kahlo portraits and wondered “when, Frida, when?!”

And now in waltzes M.I.A., the coolest and certainly one of the sexiest girls of the moment with a hairy jawline ready to save the day. And that Marc Jacobs! I’m shocked he could be so accepting. How punk.

Hairy-faced girls, put down the Nads, it’s the dawning of a new day.

Bulga Jeans Launch in the US. Fantastic.

Finding the right jeans is a horrendous task, no matter what your size or height. It’s true, even my skinniest and tallest girlfriends agree–and I mean skinny and tall. However, these BULGA jeans, which will hit the U.S. later this month, seem like the right fit for me. What with that high waist and that creased leg. I like, I like.

They remind me a bit of the classic Levis STA-Prest, which are my best fit ever.

BULGA is known for their succulent handbags, but I’m pretty impressed with their foray into denim. Their Spring ‘08 line is inspired by previous decades (think 70s and 80s), which you know we love here at Threadtrend.

Colorwise, this new collection runs the spectrum from light to faded to navy, and the details are spot on with piping, vintage buttons, butt-flattering yokes and low-rise pockets.

They aren’t cheap–they go for between $195 -$300, but if you wear jeans everyday, they’re likely worth the investment. I want some.

There’s just something about Kate Bosworth, no? She doesn’t make me want to wear Calvin Klein clothes, but shit, she’s not a miracle worker.
