When I first heard that DKNY was planting these bikes around the boroughs of New York City to promote biking instead of driving, I just thought, eh, fun color, but I wasn’t impressed. I figured it was just another corporation’s attempt to pretend to be earth-conscious and probably get a tax break. I’m cynical, but this is America.

But I guess I was wrong. This is interesting! I guess these DKNY bikes are causing quite a stir. The Gothamist says these freaking bikes look a little to0 much like the white Ghost Bikes, which are put up around NYC to memorialize cyclists who’ve been killed in traffic. Times Up! and Visual Resistance are behind that cause.

Geez! Nice going DKNY. You gotta steal from dead bike riders? And also, isn’t this ironic–wouldn’t the copy cat bikes just remind people how dangerous it can be to cycle in the city? DUH.
