Nicholas Ghesquiere hates hip hop: Kanye denied entry to Balenciaga show?
***** Dear Threadtrenders: Yesterday I made the GRAVE mistake of crediting Elber Albaz as the designer for Balenciaga when the proper head of design is, as we all know, Nicholas Ghesquiere. AND the worst part is I referenced Fall 2009, not Fall 2008. AAAAAHHHHH!!! It was a crazy day yesterday and I apologize for the mistake. I guess my head wasn’t all there yesterday. But, hey, even the most perfect of us make mistakes right

According to
Bossip Kanye West and his fiance, Alexis Phifer, were denied seats at the recent
Balenciaga Fall 2008 show in Paris due to his “hip hop” image. Surprisingly, Kanye’s response to this was very mature and, dare I say, rational. Considering that Kanye and Alexis have become
regular fashion week attendees simply because they love fashion, I think this is ludicrous. What do you guys think?

Buy of the Week: Jovovich-Hawk Dress
Finally, the Jovovich-Hawk line is up for grabs! I like a lot of the stuff from this Go International collection for Target, but this chiffon dress is what I’ve been waiting for. It’s my best cut–high-waisted and full-skirted. Plus it’s only $39.99, which is good, because I know red wine will destroy it an some point.
I’ve seen a lot of white babydoll–or tea dresses as they are now calling them– lately, but they’re all so ridiculously expensive, and I cannot abide by an expensive white dress. Too risky.
I ordered it yesterday. My intent is to wear it with some brown vintage boots i have until it gets too hot, then I’ll switch to my black vialis pumps when it’s hot enough to go bare-legged. Then in the summer, I’ll throw on my MIA platforms.
I love it when a plan/wardrobe comes together.

Sale Alert! Le Train Bleu Checkered Dress
I love Le Train Bleu, but it’s usually way too rich for my blood. However, their sales section is pretty decent. For instance, I saw this perfect-for-spring checkered number today and thought I should tell all you threadtrenders about it.
It’s $198 (used to be $295!). I say it’s a good investment, since it’s right for lots of body types–it will add curves to straight bodies and flatter curvy ones. It’s also good for pear-shapes. I love it, and if they had my size it would be mine. I’d wear that dress out and get my money’s worth because that’s the way I’m living.
