Walmart Kills OP. Rumer Willis and Pete Wentz are Accomplices.

YUCK! As if I didn’t hate Walmart enough, now I have to look at their dumb Op ads featuring Pete Wentz, Rumer Willis (wait! what does she do again?), Christina Milan, Wilmer Valderrama and other z-listers who I could not identify. Ugh, it’s unconscionable.

Why can’t Walmart leave my memories of corduroy shorts and colorful surf tees alone? Now they’re all stupid and ugly.

Is nothing sacred? Check out the Op site if you want, but I warn you: it’s DISGUSTING!

ps. Sadly I could find no vintage op ads or pics to use on this post.

We LOVE a Makeover: UK McDonald’s Gets New Threads

The only things grosser than most McDonald’s food (read Fast Food Nation if you don’t think McD’s is gross) are the uniforms.  But that red polyester nightmare is all over for employees who dish up Big Macs in the UK.

Designer Bruce Oldfield, one of Princess Diana’s favorite courtiers, who currently counts Sienna Miller among his clients, recently took on the task of revamping the old uniforms, and the less offensive results were unveiled yesterday in London.  Aw, the scarf is a nice touch!

The one controversy is that the new logo pattern looks like a Louis Vuitton rip-off, but who cares?  It’s not like anyone is going to mistake a McDonald’s uniform for an LV original.

For their part, McDonald’s says they did it to give their brand a modern twist and out of respect for the staff.  Let’s hope, for the sake of our own McDonald’s employees, that this trend comes to the States! But, then again, fast food workers get ZERO respect in this country, so….

Quotes of the Day Go to Keith Richards

I’ve always had a special place in my heart for Keith RIchards thanks to my mother, who convinced me at a young age that he was sexy. And you can’t deny it really, even when you’re confronted with an image like this one–is he nodding off or just passed out?

For that reason, Keith has always kind of managed to matter in the world of fashion, and he was even featured in a Louis Vuitton ad recently. In today’s Times of London, Keith said a whole bunch of hilarious stuff about that endorsement and other fashiony stuff:

The Stones weren’t competitive about what they wore. The tailor Andrew Oldham had worked with the Beatles - he gave them those suits with no collars. We got uniforms to begin with. We threw them out in a week.

Fashion thinks more about me than what I think about it. I just wore what I wore and people noticed. The sexiest thing a woman could wear? Being stark f***ing naked.

I don’t do underwear. I never do the washing. How would I know whether my clothes stink? I throw them away.

I can’t say I’m bothered about the fate of the planet. I got a guitar case out of Louis Vuitton. They paid me a lot of money and it’s all going to charity. I’m going to charity.

Skulls remind us that underneath it all, we are all the same. Beauty is only skin-deep.

Ah, Keith, don’t ever die! We need you.

Shoe of the Day:Bronze Peep Toe Wedge

The thing about Anthropologie is that they’ve got a lot of “cute, if only” stuff, meaning almost everything in that store would be cute if only it didn’t have a giant bow, a big floral applique, or giant buttons right on the thighs. I can’t handle too much razzle dazzle.

That said, I will say this for the place, they have great jeans–they carry Joe’s Jeans that aren’t in other stores–and sweet shoes, like these bronze peeps:

They’re a great replacement for the ubiquitous flip-flop.

Kanye West Sings for Casio G-Shock

Sadly, I missed Kanye West in LA this week, and my friend Mari assures me that I lost out on “the show of the century.” Of course. But I am going to see Chris Rock tonight so let’s hope that makes up for it.

However, my social life isn’t the subject of this post–the Casio G-Shock is. The watch that keeps it real  turns 25 this year, and Kanye is performing at the celebration. Nice!

At this party, they’ll be showcasing the newest G-Shock collection, which was created in collaboration with director Spike Lee and graffiti artist Eric Haze, who’s designed special editions for Nike and New Balance.
