Elle UK reported yesterday that Marc Jacobs muse, SOFA COPPOLA and her daddy MR. FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA will star in the next Louis Vuitton ad campaigns! They were recently shot by ANNIE LEIBOVITZ in Argentina for the brand’s “Core Values” campaign.

I have to say I think this is the coolest thing Marc Jacobs, along with Louis Vuitton, has done in a little while. I guess it helps to have ultra-respected, super talented peeps in your crew, huh?! I can’t wait to see this campaign.  We’ll be sure to be one of the first to post it on Threadtrend.

The new Go International stuff is out at Target, and at first glance, some of the stuff is really cute. I’m particularly taken with this tank dress.  That hem is kind of fun, and I’m a sucker for brights.

It’s only $22, and if you can’t do yellow, they have it in red, too.

The Designer Collaborations Continue: Urban Outfitters Gets into the Act

With all the designer/retailer collaborations going on (i.e. Target and H&M) in the world, Urban Outfitters was bound to get in on the act. The fast fashion company has just announced that they’ll be joining forces for a series of mini collections with Charlotte Ronson, Steven Alan, Paul & Joe Sister and Corpus. Geren Lockart of Geren Ford will create the first collection.

I must admit, my interest is piqued. My favorite dress is by Geren Ford, so I’ll be excited to see what they come up with, but I’m always skeptical about these ventures since they’ve never ended in success for me.  We’ll see how it does for UO.

The dress pictured above is a Charlotte Ronson number I’m pining for.

Vogue Italia: The All Black Issue

UPDATE: CLICK HERE SEE PHOTOS FROM THE OF THE ALL-BLACK ISSUE.

The lack of diversity in the fashion industry has been a point of contention for decades, and recently there’s been lots of talk on the issue. After the Spring 08 shows in NYC, for instance, America’s Next Top Model’s Nigel Barker took note of the homogeny on the runway, telling WWD, “Everyone is always talking about the weight issue, I think they should be talking about race.”

Now comes word that at least some are trying to take things in a different direction. Fashionista reports today that photographer Steven Meisel has just completed shooting an all-Black issue of Vogue Italia in an attempt to spur more diversity in future issues of Vogue. There aren’t too many details yet, and there’s no word on who the cover girl will be.

I just really hope this isn’t a one-time deal or a stunt that changes nothing.
