Okay, let’s get one thing straight: I do not like John Mayer in the least, and I hate that he brought the term “bubblegum tongue” into my consciousness. EW! However, I do support his latest cause: bringing back the 80s feathered hairdo. No, really. Today on his blog, he wrote:
Today I set off on my newest project; to grow and maintain an authentic ’80s style feathered haircut. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for some time and I’m very excited to bring this amazing look into today’s pop culture landscape. The feathered cut projects an attitude of ease and quiet confidence that seems to have all but eluded our generation.
Pretty funny and way wittier than an ironic 70s porn mustache, which, by the way, isn’t funny anymore.
I have to hand it to him because he could have just skated on the recent publicity that his weekend romp with Jennifer Aniston earned him. Still, he’s no Rick Springfield:
