Everyone is buzzing about the Chanel Couture show, and for good reason–it was fantastic, the way a couture collection should be. The best part about it is that Lagerfeld cited “Organ Pipes” as his inspiration. He says it all came to him during a concert, but Suzy Menkes thinks it might have something to do with oil.
Either way, he really went with all out with the metaphor, setting the stage with giant (though sadly, and kind of surprisingly, non-functioning) organ pipes and even pumping out organ music during the show. Where the actual designs were concerned, black and metallic tubing details cemented the motif.
Check out the details:

Incidentally, clear heels are now apparently high fashion, except now we’re suppose to refer to them as “lucite”. It’s not that new of a thing, considering Nina Ricci did some last Fall and, of course, Lanvin did some those transparent heeled pumps last year, but still, it’s a little startling when you see them out of the context of The Bunny Ranch.
But, whatevs, Karl knows best, and I have no beef with these:

I have some great lucite wedges that my mother wore about 25 years ago.
