Bishop of Seventh’s Cashmere Twill Jeans

I love colored denim, but I hate that most jeans that come in interesting colors are of the skinny variety–jeans as leggings don’t really work for me.
I’m the queen of wanting for the impossible, so I’ve kept my eyes open for years, but deep down I always kind of figured my quest for bright jeans with a little flare was nothing more than a sad, hopeless venture.
Enter: Bishop of Seventh’s Cashmere Twill jeans. I love the silhouette of this style and the color makes me want to get drunk on Blue Hawaiians. Delicious! Also, I was pleased as punch to find out that Bishop of Seventh is an LA-based company–fashion design in Los Angeles is really shaping up.
They also come in a vibrant red.

Vintage
REFINERY 29 has acknowledged the return of classic vintage-inspired jumpsuits in the most classic fabric of them all, denim. We all know that jumpsuits have very strong roots in the 80’s. I mean who doesn’t remember the oh-so- flattering acid wash renditions with elastic waist or the sleek Black polyester versions with shoulder sequins?
Some of our favorite brands have mixed the 80’s staple with classic WWII ROSIE THE RIVETER inspiration to create very wearable denim one pieces that will have you feeling all ultra-American. The three above are from (left to right) MAYLE $595, ACNE $369, and LOVER $430.
I got to thinking about all the denim jumpsuits I’ve passed up at the thrift stores for, like, $4.00 and now I’m thinking I should have snagged a couple. In-case you don’t thrift (what’s wrong with you?), there are a few options on EBAY that might suit your fancy.

First up is Gramps in a vintage Maserati number ending Apr. 8th. Love him!

2nd is a super classy faux denim polyester piece also ending Apr. 8th

If all else fails, you can make your own with this vintage Vogue pattern ending Apr. 5th

Denim Review: Joe’s High-Waist Stretch Jean
I bought these Joe’s High-Waist Jeans about a month ago, and I will endorse them to threadtrend readers.
Here are the high points:
- stretchiness=comfort
- the long hem makes them extra cool
- the stitching adds character but won’t give you thunderous hips
- wide leg is super-flattering and very London 1978
The down-side:
- these babies grow, so you have to buy them skin tight
- the color is sweet, but it comes off on your hands and everything else
- if they’re not small enough, they’ll give you a pot belly
As you can see, most of the thumbs down stuff is preventable. I really like these jeans–they’re the kind of jeans that feel like sweats, but you look hot in them. Oh, and if you’re short, don’t fret, I hemmed them a good 3 inches and they still look good.

Hot Or Not: Jovovich-Hawk Alice Star Stretch Skinny Jean
I found these Jovovich-Hawk jeans a little Strange, What do you think? The star placement is just screaming Bulls eye.
Hot or not?
House of Holland Teams up With Levis
Henry Holland and Levis are going to have a baby. A denim baby. According to Drapers, 501s will be the medium, and the line will launch Spring ‘09. The collection will also appear on the House of Holland runway next season.
I’m sure they won’t release them to Americans, but still, I wonder if Levis are about to become relevant again.

Thrift Score: High-Waisted Jeans. $2.98 And They’re Italian.
The truth is I’ve been wanting a pair of high-waisted jeans for a long time, but as with all emerging trends, I’ve been priced out. I love Lips Jeans and Grey Ant, but I just don’t have hundreds to spend on denim–however, if I did, I probably would.
Enter: a thrift store.
I snagged these hot high-waisted trousers when Manuel Paul and I were getting our thrift on this weekend. They fit me like a glove, they’re the perfect color for spring, and they only cost $2.98. They’re also brand new and Italian. God must really love me.
Does it get any better?

Here’s Keira Knightley on the cover of W Magazine’s February issue wearing the denim look worn by Coco Rocha on Chanel’s Spring ‘08 runway.
I really liked the denim portion of this Chanel collection for its Americana-ness (I know they said that on style.com, but I thought it, too!). It makes me think of a John Cougar Mellencamp song. Play “Little Pink Houses” in your head while we review–
“There a young man in t-shirt,
listening to the rock & roll station.
He’s got greasy hair and a greasy smile,
He says lord, this must be my destination”

Bulga Jeans Launch in the US. Fantastic.
Finding the right jeans is a horrendous task, no matter what your size or height. It’s true, even my skinniest and tallest girlfriends agree–and I mean skinny and tall. However, these BULGA jeans, which will hit the U.S. later this month, seem like the right fit for me. What with that high waist and that creased leg. I like, I like.
They remind me a bit of the classic Levis STA-Prest, which are my best fit ever.
BULGA is known for their succulent handbags, but I’m pretty impressed with their foray into denim. Their Spring ‘08 line is inspired by previous decades (think 70s and 80s), which you know we love here at Threadtrend.
Colorwise, this new collection runs the spectrum from light to faded to navy, and the details are spot on with piping, vintage buttons, butt-flattering yokes and low-rise pockets.
They aren’t cheap–they go for between $195 -$300, but if you wear jeans everyday, they’re likely worth the investment. I want some.

Bryan Adams Shoots an Ad for Guess. Who knew?
If I hadn’t put the answer in the title I would have asked you to guess who took this picture. And you would have been stumped! Because who would think Brian “Cuts Like a Knife” Adams would be responsible? But he is.
I think Adam’s 1980s magic really helped considering how reminiscent of the glory days of Guess ads this is. I don’t see myself ever craving that back pocket triangle as I did when I was in 5th grade, but I like this picture. Nice work, Brian.
If this ad makes you think of sweet Sophia Loren, it’s no accident. The vibe is designed to be Italian rustic village, and the Italian actress’ hair hair guy was called in to do the honors.
