Is it okay that Lou Doillon is my new obsession?  I hope so because it’s not gonna end soon.

Heidi Montag VS. Lauren Conrad. Which is Worse?

80208509_0xlarger.jpgheidi-montag-collection-04.jpg

We’ve already talked about the shitty knits Lauren Conrad unveiled at LA Fashion Week, and now we have Heidi Montag’s Anchor Blue collection to shit all over (sorry, but sometimes you have to use the same expletive twice in one sentence).

Hmmm….Well, they both look very Forever 21, but Conrad’s could probably get into an outlet sale store of some sort–you know, the kind were you can get 2 pieces for $35. And truth be told, I think if I had to be caught dead in one of these, I’d choose Lauren’s junk, which is boring but not tacky. I can’t say the same for poor Heidi.

Which do you think is worse?

America’s Next Top Model Alert: Chantal Gets Walks for Whitely Kross at LA Fashion Week ‘08

America’s Next Top Model runner-up Chantal walked in the Whitely Kros show at LA Fashion Week.  Sure, it’s just LA and sure, she’s got 80s Heavy Metal hair, but at least she has a job.

At least they didn’t put her in this:

That would have just been mean.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America announced their nominees for Womenswear Designer of the Year, and here they are…

Marc Jacobs:

Franciso Costa (Calvin Klein):

Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough  (Proenza Schouler):

I vote for the Calvin Klein guy because the 2007 resort season was delightful and a far cry from what I expect from that fashion house.

Project Runway Season 4 Finale: Redemption!

Well, even though I was so eh about Project Runway at the beginning of the season, I have to say this was probably the best finale ever. All the designers really went for it for their fashion week collections–Christian’s line was out of hand (in a good way) and Jillian’s was delish. I even liked Rami’s stuff despite the fact that all his previous designs just looked like boring Jennifer Lopez garb to me.

Here’s what I loved (although, you should watch the show because these pictures don’t do any of the collections any justice)

Paris Fashion Week Fall 08:Intensely Chic Stilettos Reign at Chloe

Well, there really weren’t any surprises at Chloe’s Fashion Week ‘08 show. There were the usual busy, hippy prints:

But what was unexpected and much to my liking were the hot shoes! Check them out:

So amazing! Although, I do fear what will transpire when these shoes get filtered through the knockoff strainer. Could be deadly if Forever 21 gets wind of these shoes.

Does this Miu Miu stuff make anyone else think of Body Glove dresses?

Ali Michael Used to Be Skinny, and NOW Look at Her!
00040m-1.jpg

Have you heard about this? Apparently, 17-year old Ali Michael, a runway model who had a lot of success during previous fashion week seasons, can’t get work now because she gained 5 pounds. Well, that’s at least what her mother is claiming in the Wall Street Journal.

There she is above at the John Galliano show in spring 2008. And here’s she is now after slopping on the weight, at Yohji Yamamoto in Paris recently:

Yohji practically has her in a muumuu! Yeah, what a porker!

Lot’s of people agree that this skinny model thing is getting out of hand, including Nina Gaaaarcia, who thinks the models are getting skinnier and skinnier. Even the Parisians are freaking out:

“If you look at the girls, they are not beautiful like models were 20 years ago,” says Jimmy Pihet, spokesman for the Federation Française de la Couture, which oversees Paris fashion shows. “The girls are thin, they have strange faces. … At first, you look at them and you’re not sure if they’re beautiful or disgusting.”

Project Runway Season 4: Is Hair the New Black?
12.jpg

Chris March was out on Project Runway tonight.  He did get to show his collection at fashion week, though, and yes, hair was a big part of the line.

Now, I’ll admit that the skirt above is actually kind of cool, but, still, I cannot abide by this human hair trend in fashion. We already saw a hair dress this season, and I’m scared this trend is going to catch on.  But there won’t be any shiny, human hair involved.

You think a cheap weave is bad? Prepare yourself if this craze hits Ross Dress for Less or if Kimora Lee Simmons gets her hands on it! Oh, how I rue the day.
